1) Business intelligence, on your smartwatch – ZDNet

Big data usually means big servers and big data warehouses, but the BI company Actuate wants to make it happen on your watch, too. The company was demonstrating a number of things including its Wear API which allows you to embed the software into any Android device, including watches. The company ran a demonstration that showed data that started in on a screen on a car dashboard which was then rendered on a smartwatch and then was moved on again to a global application.

2) InsightSquared gets $13.5 million to continue growing its business intelligence platform – Beta Boston

The Cambridge-based company announced a $13.5 million Series C round of funding this morning that will further position the company to be a more recognizable player in the business intelligence and data analytics space.

3) Teletrac Named 2014 Company of the Year by Business Intelligence Group – Broadway World

GARDEN GROVE, Calif., Nov. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ Teletrac Inc., a leading GPS tracking and fleet management provider, today announced it has been named 2014 Company of the Year by the Business Intelligence Group (BIG) for its commitment to “innovation and the renewed attention to the customer experience.”

4) East Point Systems Introduces New Business Intelligence Platform – DSNews

East Point Systems, a Connecticut-based field service software solutions provider for the default mortgage field service industry, has announced the launch of Analytics Dashboard, a business intelligence platform that allows businesses to make quick decisions based on real-time data.

5) SMBs Win as Business Intelligence Hits the Cloud – BizTech

Many small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) have depended on outside contractors for information technology services for several years. That’s why the cloud fits in well with a small business strategy. When the bottom line simply can’t afford large investments in internal staff or infrastructure, SMB owners can leave IT nuts and bolts to the experts.
