TIBCO Software announced this week that it has closed on its acquisition of Information Builders, according to a press release on the company’s website. Announced in October, the merger marks the addition of Information Builders’ data management and analytics capabilities to the TIBCO Connected Intelligence Platform. The news came just a few short months after Information Builders announced its re-branding to ibi in June.

TIBCO’s product capabilities are expansive and range from data integration and API management to visual analytics, reporting, and data science. The company’s BI and analytics portfolio comes in two main iterations: TIBCO Spotfire and TIBCO Jaspersoft. TIBCO Spotfire is the company’s more modern platform. It features interactive visualization, data preparation, enterprise-class governance, and advanced analytic capabilities. TIBCO Jaspersoft supports traditional reporting and embedded BI functionality.

With the acquisition closure, TIBCO is set to focus on business alignment and resource mapping for the ongoing health and support for its expanded customer base and worldwide partner network. TIBCO’s product line will provide current ibi customers with a variety of modern solutions while ibi’s offerings will further enhance TIBCO’s portfolio. TIBCO plans to roll these new features out in industries where it and ibi share expertise.

In a media statement about the news, TIBCO Software CEO Dan Streetman said “We’re excited to recognize the exceptional technology and great reputation built by ibi, and we look forward to providing our existing and future customers with an even broader range of innovative, data-driven solutions to support faster, smarter digital transformations.”

The formal integration of ibi into TIBCO began earlier this month. Read Data-driven insight is more critical than ever: ibi enters agreement to be acquired by TIBCO in the ibi blog to learn more.
