Yellowfin Analytics Suite Gets New Embedded BI and App Dev Features

Yellowfin recently announced the release of version 9.2 of Yellowfin Analytics Suite, according to a press release on the company’s website. The update is highlighted by capabilities that enhance embedded BI and analytical app development, expressly so developers can create embedded analytics with minimum coding. Version 9.2 adds to Yellowfin’s fully extensible components. The release comes on the heels of Yellowfin’s April 9.1 drop, which saw the addition of new UI options for analysts and upgrades to the tool’s data storytelling and reporting features.

Yellowfin is an Australia-based BI and analytics company that specializes in dashboards and data visualization. The product features a machine learning algorithm called Assisted Insights that provides automatic answers in the form of easy-to-understand best practice visualizations and narratives. Yellowfin comes pre-built with a variety of dashboards, and users can embed interactive reports into third-party platforms, such as a web page, wiki, or company intranet. Released in November 2019, Yellowfin 9 debuted an advanced secure presentation tool called Yellowfin Present and add-ons for the company’s companion mobile application.

Yellowfin Analytics Suite is getting a completely refreshed API library so developers can customize front-end Yellowfin content in new ways and integrate them anywhere. Developers can also use the same JavaScript API to develop and extend dashboard functionality within Dashboard Code Mode. There’s also a new REST API that provides support for administrators that want to automate back-end processes, perform administrative tasks, and manage content programmatically. The REST API provides access to Yellowfin content for developers as well, enabling them to build custom experiences in Yellowfin Signals, Stories, and Notifications.

New Step Change Signals, which automatically identifies critical changes to data and surfaces them, rounds out the release. Step Change Signals is a new addition to Yellowfin’s algorithm library, and expands the coverage of possible insight discovery.
