Talend recently announced updates to Talend Data Fabric, headlined by high-performance integrations to leading cloud data platforms. The release also touts a new self-service API portal, collaborative data governance features, and private connections between Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure. Talend Data Fabric includes native integrations with Databricks 7.3 and AWS EMR 6.2 on Apache Spark 3 as well. This news comes on the heels of Talend going private in March 2021.

Talend offers an expansive portfolio of data integration and data management tools. The company’s flagship tool, Open Studio for Data Integration, is available via a free open-source license. Talend Integration Cloud is offered in three separate editions (SaaS, hybrid, elastic), and provides broad connectivity, built-in data quality, and native code generation to support big data technologies. Big data components and connectors include Hadoop, NoSQL, MapReduce, Spark, machine learning, and IoT.

The API portal helps improve developer productivity and collaboration by making it easier to share APIs, documentation, and data structures across app development teams. In addition to ensuring that sensitive data is secure and never exposed to the Internet, the use of a private link offers several additional advantages over a VPN. Private link support also provides compliance with local data protection and industry regulations like PCI and HIPAA. Talend provides tight coupling of data stewardship and data integration where read/write capabilities can be added to a data quality or governance “campaign” directly from a data pipeline as well.

In a media statement on the news, Talend CTO Krishna Tammana said: “One of the biggest crises businesses face today is a lack of agility caused by untimely, inaccessible, incomplete, and inaccurate data. With Talend’s latest release, we’re helping data professionals connect, share, and improve their data faster and more securely.  These innovations represent one step in our ongoing journey to help our customers put healthier data at the center of their businesses.”
