Twistlock Bolsters Their Serverless Platform With New Runtime Defense

Container cybersecurity company, Twistlock, recently announced the addition of serverless runtime defense to their platform. This allows companies to extend Twistlock’s automated whitelist-based threat protection to serverless functions running in AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure.

As serverless computing grows in popularity, the increased options regarding tools are certainly welcome. Lacking solutions options have made it difficult to move to serverless. Serverless has superior security capabilities to traditional cloud workloads. It doesn’t rely on traditional servers, therefore, it’s significantly less likely that server issues will come up.

Twistlock’s new addition brings their serverless capabilities in the full lifecycle, full stack protection that the company provides for containers and virtual machines. They allow customers to centralize serverless, container, and VM security in a single platform. This allows DevOps and security teams to have visibility and control over their cloud-native applications.

Twistlock is placing themselves in a position where any enterprise can utilize their platform. Gartner predicts more than 20% of global enterprises will have deployed serverless computing technologies by 2020. This increase coincides with more enterprises moving to the cloud. This coincides with a recent IDC prediction that over 90% of enterprises will use multiple cloud services and platforms by 2020. Twistlock’s growing platform puts them in a position to help enterprises with any cloud preference.
