AirWatch MAM Means More Flexibility and Choice

Airwatch MAM BYOD

Airwatch MAM BYODThe latest news out of AirWatch is all about flexibility for IT administrators. Recently they announced the addition of a standalone Mobile Application Management (MAM) solution to their suite of mobile management solutions. Traditionally known as a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution provider, the addition of a standalone MAM solution brings flexibility and security to administrators working with corporate own devices, personally owned devices and in BYOD environments.

AirWatch’s press release states that they offer, “The industry’s broadest capabilities to ensure regulatory compliance, minimize internal risk and guarantee end-user satisfaction and privacy.” These broad capabilities include MDM, Mobile Content Management (MCM), Mobile Email Management (MEM), BYOD Management and now MAM capabilities.

With the rise in BYOD programs and the perceived benefit of employee and corporate productivity, this move to incorporate MAM into their solution set will allow AirWatch customers to better secure and control the apps and data stored on shared or personal devices. John Marshall, president and CEO, of AirWatch is quoted as saying, “Enterprises now have a variety of deployment scenarios, and AirWatch is the first enterprise mobility suite to offer commercial solutions that align with product requirements.”

This incorporation of MAM into traditional MDM solution provider offerings is something we think will become common place. We do not think the features that MDM offers will disappear, but as enterprise mobility strategies and structures continue to evolve so will the traditional MDM solution providers.
