Multi-cloud data management leader, Veritas Technologies, recently announced that it has acquired the privately-held software company, fluid Operations AG, also known as fluidOps. fluidOps works to manage and optimize data housed in silos across environments, including on-premises, public, private, and hybrid cloud. fluidOps was also recently named a Leader in Hybrid Cloud Management and Orchestration by leading global technology research and advisory firm, ISG, in their “ISG Provider Lens – Germany 2018” report.
fluidOps’ technology will be integrated into current and upcoming data management solutions from Veritas. This integration will begin with Veritas Access, version 7.4, which will be available in the forthcoming quarters.
On the acquisition, executive vice president and chief product officer at Veritas, Mike Palmer stated, “Veritas and fluidOps are squarely focused on helping customers harness the power of their information – whether that information is on-premises, in the cloud or in complex hybrid environments. We believe this acquisition will rapidly advance Veritas’ 360 Data Management approach, providing new levels of orchestration and semantic integration that is critical for today’s global enterprises.”
This acquisition comes on the heels of research from Veritas, which found that 56% of global organizations use a cloud-first mentality when implementing new applications or managing workloads. The findings of this research support the fact that enterprises tend to have trouble with data silos, and use on-premises infrastructure while also incorporating the cloud.
Co-founder of fluidOps, Dr. Andreas Eberhart expressed his thoughts on the acquisition, stating, “We are delighted to join the Veritas team. For years, fluidOps has focused on providing customers smart data management solutions for heterogeneous data pools, empowering organizations to bridge data silos, benefit from data transparency and accelerate innovations in a hybrid cloud world. Veritas shares this same mission and we’re excited to join forces in helping customers accomplish their business goals.”
