Clearlake Capital-backed Precisely recently announced that it signed a definitive agreement to acquire data governance software provider Infogix. Terms of the deal were not made available, but the merger is a major move coming on the heels of Clearlake’s acquisition of Precisely from March. Syncsort re-branded to Precisely as a result of the company’s acquisition of the Pitney Bowes software data business in August 2019. The transaction is expected to close by the end of Q2 2021.
Infogix offers a suite of integrated data governance capabilities that include business glossaries, data cataloging, data lineage, and metadata management. The tool also provides customizable dashboards and zero-code workflows that adapt as each organizational data capability matures. Organizations use Infogix for data governance and for risk, compliance and data value management. The product is also flexible and easy to use, and supports smaller data analysis jobs as well.
Precisely’s solution portfolio is broken into five distinct categories based on the use case. Integrate is its data integration line that features Precisely Ironstream, Assure, and Syncsort. The Verify unit of data quality tools includes Precisely Spectrum Quality, Spectrum Context, and Trillium. The location intelligence line (Locate) touts Precisely Spectrum Spatial, Spectrum Geocoding, and MapInfo, while Enrich features Precisely Streets, Boundaries, Points Of Interest, Addresses, and Demographics. There’s also Precisely Engage on the company’s Engage unit.
In a media statement on the news, Precisely CEO Josh Rogers said: “As companies seek to position and differentiate themselves for the digital era, they quickly realize that success requires trusted data. Precisely provides that foundation with maximum accuracy, consistency and context so businesses can make confident data-driven decisions. Infogix is a perfect fit for Precisely, with highly complementary data quality products and services, and a leading data governance solution that our customers have been seeking.”
