The Rise in Enterprise Mobility Should have WLAN Providers Smiling

Infonetics Research BYOD

Infonetics Research BYODThere is no doubt that enterprise mobility is on the rise, and with that rise the wireless local area network (WLAN) technologies that allow for that mobility are reaping the benefits. In a survey conducted by Infonetics Research, participating companies overwhelmingly stated that they were planning on increasing their wireless coverage due to the flood of mobile devices with access to Wi-Fi within their companies.

Matthias Machowinski, directing analyst for enterprise networks and video at Infonetics Research, stated “”The WLAN market has been on a tear in recent years, driven by the explosion of wireless devices in the enterprise. There is no end in sight to this trend: almost all new devices on the network are wireless, and many organizations expect their tablet usage to surge in the coming years. In order to effectively support mobile devices, user mobility, and BYOD, a robust wireless infrastructure is no longer a nice to have, but a must have.”

Along with increased mobility, buzz around new access points and frequency offerings (802.11 ac) should set up the WLAN market for great growth over the next couple of years. The survey also revealed that of the 105 medium to large North American business questioned Cisco holds a 61 percent share as the top WLAN solutions provider. Click here to access the survey.
