From speed tests, to full on lectures, these videos offer different glimpses into what 802.11ac can do for an enterprise and why upgrading now is a good option.
IEEE 802.11ac: Learn the Fundamentals of the New WLAN Standard – This video from Meru Networks compares 802.11ac to 802.11n and 802.11g. Meru explains how 802.11ac is different in its equipment and bandwidth. This video is a good introduction to what makes 802.11ac great for the enterprise, and also introduces the concept of beamforming and MU-MIMO, and how they affect speed and the number of devices allowed.
Fundamentals of 802.11ac – This video from Cisco explains how 802.11ac handles things that take up more bandwidth, like videos. It also explains how 802.11ac builds on top of the technology of previous generations of 802.11 technologies and how 802.11ac widens the band from 2.4 GHz to 5GHz, giving much more room for traffic.
Gigabit Wi-Fi 802.11ac In Depth – This video is a full hour long lecture from Aruba networks. This in depth video starts with why we need another 802.11 PHY, explains the technology and goes through timeline for adoption and improvement (we are currently on Wave 2).
iPhone Wi Fi Speed Test: 802.11ac iPhone 6 Plus vs. 802.11n iPhone 5s – Although this simple video is showing the speed of an iPhone 6 Plus and an iPhone 5s, the most important thing is that it shows the speed of 802.11ac vs 802.11n on a mobile device.
Wireless 802.11 AC vs Powerline Real World Test – This video covers the pros and cons of power line internet and 802.11ac. While we aren’t too interested in power line for businesses, this video still provides a great commentary on 802.11ac, and tests speeds from different points in a building.
