Acronis Completes Acquisition of Synapsys
Acronis recently announced its acquisition of Synapsys, its long-time partner in Cape Town, South Africa. Synapsys specializes in distributing Acronis Cyber Protection Solutions through the service provider channel. Synapsys is also made up of two businesses: Synapsys Systems (Proprietary) Limited and Sysnapsys Distribution (Proprietary) Limited. This is Acronis’ fourth acquisition in the past 18 months, marking the latest move in the company’s accelerated growth plan.
Acronis offers backup, disaster recovery, and secure file sync and share solutions. The company also provides data protection in any environment, including virtual, physical, cloud, and mobile. Acronis True Image 2020 is personal backup software that enables users to duplicate their system, effectively capturing all of their data for system recovery or disk migration. Acronis Cyber Backup is aimed towards businesses of all sizes and offers proactive ransomware protection. Recently, Acronis acquired 5nine Software, CyberLynx, and DeviceLock. The vendor also released Acronis Cyber Protect, which natively integrates cybersecurity, data protection, and data management to protect endpoints, systems, and data.
This acquisition dovetails with Acronis’ ongoing Global/Local Initiative, which aims to deliver expanded in-country access to the company’s worldwide resources. The Global/Local Initiative reflects the vendor’s commitment to stay close to its partners and help them grow their business while protecting their clients against modern threats.
Peter French, Synapsys’ Managing Director, will now serve as Acronis’ General Manager for the Middle East/Africa Market. After a planned transition period, Synapsys will be integrated into Acronis and will be responsible for all Africa Sales of Acronis’ cyber protection solutions.
In a press statement, Serguei “SB” Beloussov, Founder and CEO of Acronis, said, “Synapsys has been a trusted and valuable partner in our efforts to extend our cyber protection solutions to organizations across the African continent. This acquisition will give their users direct access to our technology and support. At the same time, Africa is becoming a strategic growth opportunity for Acronis, and acquiring Synapsys provides us with a permanent presence on the continent. The move is beneficial for Acronis, the African MSP channel, and the organizations and users that need to safeguard their workloads and systems against the modern threat landscape.”
As part of Acronis’ growth strategy, the company will continue to examine potential acquisitions that will extend its ability to address the Five Vectors of Cyber Protection: solving the safety, accessibility, privacy, authenticity, and security challenges that face today’s data, applications, and systems.
