Commvault provides data protection and information management software to help organizations protect, access, and use all of their data economically. The vendor has a long list of supported public cloud providers, hypervisors, big data support, and database protection. The platform is primarily offered as a software-only solution, but Commvault also has an appliance option. Recently, Commvault acquired the data storage solution provider, Hedvig. Additionally, Commvault also recently launched Metallic, its division of SaaS solutions.

For EMEA businesses, Metallic Backup & Recovery has been engineered to deliver data protection in support of users’ Data Sovereignty and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance efforts. To be GDPR compliant, enterprises must meet strict standards for security, accountability, resilience, and confidentiality. Metallic offerings enable users to monitor compliance policies, as well as the amount and type of data stored, giving users the capability to fulfill GDPR compliance obligations.

In a media statement, Manoj Nair, General Manager at Metallic, commented, “the increase of cloud adoption by customers in EMEA, especially in early adopter markets like Israekm Benelux, and the UK, along with the growth in adoption of solutions like Microsoft 365 demonstrates the increasing comfort with and demand for SaaS. The EU has established rigorous standards for data privacy, compliance, and governance, which differ even across member countries. Metallic helps ease those concerns by helping customers ensure full compliance with privacy laws like GDPR.”

Recently, Commvault appointed Shai Nuni as the new Vice President of Commvault in EMEA. Nuni has been asked to lead and expand the company’s dedicated EMEA sales and technical team.
