People would type their query into a search engine, review the results, and click the one that seemed to provide the best answer. Even when Google introduced features like featured snippets, knowledge panels, and People Also Ask boxes—which all contributed to the emerging idea of “zero-click search”—teams continued to optimize their content to appear in those formats and get people to click through to their pages.
